Overview

This diploma gives students the skills and tools to make and fit several types of dentures for patients, such as full dentures, partial ones, overdentures, and those placed over implants, as part of denturist practice.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission is by competitive selection. The academic requirement is Grade 12 graduation or an equivalent, English 12 at a minimum 'B' grade or English language proficiency assessed at an English 12 level, Biology 12 at a minimum 'C' or equivalent, Physics 11 at a minimum 'C+' or equivalent, and BIOL 1602 or equivalent taken within the last five years at a minimum 'C'. Attendance at a Denturist programme information session is compulsory. Applicants who meet those requirements by the departmental deadline — published on the programme page and falling roughly four months before the start — then sit a manual dexterity test and submit two career investigations with written summaries; the highest-scoring qualified applicants are offered seats. On acceptance you need standard first aid with CPR-A and AED training, a negative tuberculosis skin test or chest X-ray dated within six months of the start, the completed School of Health Sciences immunisation record, a criminal record check carried out to VCC's instructions (a result indicating risk to vulnerable populations prevents practicum completion and graduation), and an annual N95 respirator fit test at your own cost, with the certificate produced in the first week. VCC states this programme is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents and directs international students to VCC International, which lists separately the programmes open to them.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply through EducationPlannerBC. VCC publishes each programme's own application window, term by term, on its When to Apply page rather than one college-wide date: windows open roughly six to twenty months before the term starts and close on a stated date, though popular programmes can close earlier once seats fill, since places generally go to eligible applicants in the order their application is completed. International applicants use the International Applicant option on EducationPlannerBC; VCC opens international applications on 1 February of the previous year for Winter entry, 1 June for Spring/Summer, and 1 October for Fall, with no fixed closing date — applications continue until roughly three to four months before the term begins or until it fills, so admission is effectively rolling for international applicants. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
