This Ontario College Certificate program prepares students to work as dental assistants within a professional dental team. Over three semesters of in-person study, students combine theoretical coursework with clinical experience covering patient preparation for examinations, chairside assisting, exposing dental radiographs, preparing dental materials, polishing teeth, applying preventive agents, taking impressions, and performing dental office administrative tasks. The program leads to a Certificat d'etudes collegiales de l'Ontario (Ontario College Certificate of Studies). Graduates are eligible to write the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) certification exam, which is required for registration as a dental assistant in most Canadian jurisdictions. Admission requires specific secondary-school credits in English, French, biology, and chemistry or physics, in addition to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
