Overview

The Dental Assisting certificate is an accredited, nationally recognized one-year program combining classroom theory with hands-on clinical training. Practical skills are taught in a dental lab equipped with fully functional dental operatories and digital radiography units, maintaining a low student-to-instructor ratio, and students also complete practicum placements. The program is delivered on campus at the Prince of Wales Campus. Graduates are prepared to work as dental assistants supporting dentists with chairside procedures, radiography, infection control and patient care in dental practices.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants need Grade 12 or equivalent with credits at the general level, including Grade 12 academic English at a minimum of 65% and Grade 11 or 12 academic biology at a minimum of 65%. A Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certificate must be completed in person, not online. A completed Immunization Verification Form and a current WHMIS certificate are required after acceptance, along with a resume documenting work and volunteer experience.
