Overview
Dental Hygiene is a 120-week advanced diploma at Saskatchewan Polytechnic that prepares students to provide preventive, educational, and therapeutic dental hygiene care. Instruction combines classroom and lab work with clinical experience in the program's on-campus dental clinic at the Regina campus, across three 40-week years. The program begins each September and accepts 26 students per intake. Graduates are prepared to work as dental hygienists in dental offices, public health, and other clinical settings. Admission requires Grade 12 with a minimum overall grade of 70% in a 30-level English Language Arts, Biology 30, Chemistry 30, and one of Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-Calculus 30, along with Saskatchewan Polytechnic's English Language Requirement. Before starting, students must complete Standard First Aid and CPR Level 'C' with AED, WHMIS certification, a Criminal Record Check, and required immunizations.
