Business Administration: Master's Degree (MBA) is a master's degree in Business & Management programme taught at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, Canada. The programme runs for 20 months, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 52,436 per total (CAD 29,728 per total for local students).
This Master of Business Administration is a 20-month, full-time, in-person program delivered in cohort format at VIU's Nanaimo campus. Coursework spans four semesters organized around six areas — accounting, marketing, finance, research, management, and technology — with an emphasis on applying digital tools and data analytics across business functions. The final semester includes a 16-week paid work placement with an industry mentor alongside an applied business project addressing a real management challenge. Admission requires a bachelor's degree in any discipline, a minimum B average over the final two years of undergraduate study, at least one year of work experience, a letter of introduction, a résumé, and two letters of recommendation; the GMAT is not required, and international applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. The program suits early- to mid-career professionals from any academic background who want to build business leadership skills for roles that increasingly depend on technology and data.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission is competitive with a limited number of seats, so meeting the minimums does not guarantee a place.
Requirements: a university bachelor's degree in any discipline, business or otherwise; a minimum "B" average across the final two years of that degree; a letter of introduction explaining how the MBA fits your career plans; a resume covering education, work and volunteer experience; two letters of recommendation from past employers or professors; and at least one year of work experience. No GMAT score is required.
English: if your degree comes from a country where English is not the primary or official language, and from a university that did not teach in English, you must satisfy one of the English standards VIU sets for its graduate programmes.
International applicants additionally supply a certified copy of every educational document — one copy in the original language, plus a certified English translation where the original is not in English.
Flexible admission: in exceptional cases VIU will admit an applicant with lower formal qualifications where they hold significant professional experience relevant to the proposed area of study. That route asks for evidence of relevant prior learning, including training and certification from professional or employment bodies, and an interview in person or online; in some cases VIU may also set qualifying courses or ask for further documentation.
Indigenous applicants may apply for reserved seats through the Access Initiative for Indigenous Students form.
