Overview

Performance (Orchestral Instrument) is a Bachelor of Music with Honours program offered by Western University's Don Wright Faculty of Music. Students complete a common first year shared with other Bachelor of Music programs, then progress through a specialized performance curriculum in years two to four focused on their orchestral instrument. Admission requires applicants to demonstrate at least a Level 10 Royal Conservatory of Music performance standard, or equivalent, on their orchestral instrument, along with evidence of exceptional performing ability. Academic admission requires six approved Grade 12U or M level courses, including English (ENG4U), together with an audition and interview evaluated by the Faculty. Applicants who are not recommended for admission to the Bachelor of Music program are automatically considered instead for first-year admission to the Bachelor of Arts (Music) program, providing an alternative pathway into music studies at Western.
