Overview
The Honours Specialization in Information Systems is administered by the Department of Computer Science within a four-year Honours Bachelor's degree at Western University. The module combines core computer science coursework with applied statistics, writing, and elective study. Students complete 9.0 courses, including six core Computer Science courses covering programming, data structures, and databases, one course selected from Computer Science 2214A/B or Mathematics 2155F/G, a 0.5-credit writing course, a course from designated statistics or biology options, and 1.0 credit of upper-level Computer Science or Data Science electives. Students in the combined HBA program may substitute designated courses. Entry follows completion of first-year requirements, including specified introductory Computer Science and mathematics courses. Admission to the module is being phased out: new students will no longer be admitted after September 1, 2027, though students already enrolled may complete the requirements by August 31, 2030.

Admission Requirements: Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%, including Computer Science 1020A/B (min 60%), one of Computer Science 1025A/B, Computer Science 1026A/B, Data Science 1200A/B, Engineering Science 1036A/B (min 65%), one of Computer Science 1027A/B, Computer Science 1037A/B (min 65%), and one Calculus/Mathematics option. Note: admission to this module is discontinued effective September 1, 2027; currently enrolled/incoming students may complete requirements by August 31, 2030.
