This four-year Bachelor of Arts in French is delivered in person at Wilfrid Laurier University, with September and January intakes. Students develop advanced French-language proficiency and study Francophone literature, film, translation, and culture across a sequence of language and content courses, with opportunities for international exchange to deepen immersion. Coursework builds skills in written and spoken French, textual analysis, and translation between English and French, alongside study of the history and societies of the Francophone world. A co-op option is available, adding four-month work terms that combine language study with professional experience. Graduates pursue careers in translation and interpretation, international business, diplomacy, communications, government, and education, as well as further study in French, linguistics, or translation. The program is open to Ontario high school graduates and international applicants through Laurier's Honours Arts admission stream, with a higher admission average required for direct entry into the co-op option.
