North American Studies (BA in Combination)

North American Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University examines North America as a distinct historical, cultural, political and economic entity, drawing on history, political science, economics, geography and cultural studies. Students can focus their coursework on business and economy, culture and identity, public policy, or Indigenous Peoples, building an interdisciplinary understanding of the continent's shared and diverging national experiences. As a Bachelor of Arts in Combination, the program must be paired with a second BA major, allowing students to connect North American Studies with another discipline. The four-year Honours program is delivered on campus at Laurier's Waterloo campus, with intakes each September and January. Coursework develops research, analytical and writing skills relevant to careers and further study in public policy, government, international relations, journalism, education and other fields requiring a comparative understanding of North American society and institutions.
