The Master of Arts in Criminology at Wilfrid Laurier University builds foundational knowledge in criminological research methods, theories of crime and deviance, and professional practice. Students choose between a one-year coursework stream, completed across three consecutive terms, and a two-year thesis stream that adds original supervised research. The coursework stream combines required courses with an applied capstone component. Faculty expertise spans policing, victimization, youth justice, corrections, and socio-legal studies, and students work closely with a faculty mentor throughout the program. The program is delivered in person at the Brantford campus and admits students for the Fall term only. Graduates pursue careers in criminal justice policy, corrections, victim services, and policing, and the thesis stream also prepares students for doctoral study in criminology or a related social science field.
