Overview

Human Rights & Equity Studies is a Bachelor of Arts offered through York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. The programme prepares students for the growing field of institutionalized equity and social justice work, examining human rights principles, violations and redress efforts, including social and economic inequality, freedom of expression, and access to education and healthcare in Canada and globally. The curriculum combines critical thinking with real-world applications to prepare graduates for careers in social justice, advocacy or policy. The programme is offered full-time or part-time, with entry available in the fall, winter and summer terms for both first-year and upper-year students, and it also admits mature students and college or university transfer applicants. Ontario applicants need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with ENG4U and five additional 4U or M courses.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with ENG4U and five additional 4U or M courses; equivalent requirements apply for other Canadian provinces and for international credentials such as the IB Diploma or GCE A-levels. Mature applicants (21 or older and at least two years out of high school) and university or college transfer applicants are also considered.
