This program leads to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Law & Society, offered full-time or part-time. Students examine how law shapes, and is shaped by, society, drawing on disciplines such as sociology, philosophy and criminology to understand legal systems from multiple perspectives. The curriculum builds knowledge of legal history and its impact on the course of history alongside strong skills in critical thinking, research and communication. Students explore topics including rights, justice and social responsibility, developing an interdisciplinary grounding in how legal institutions interact with social structures and change. Entry is available in fall, winter and summer for both first-year and upper-year applicants. The program suits students interested in law and its social context who are considering further study such as law school, policy work, or careers in the justice, advocacy and public sectors.
