The PhD in Mathematics & Statistics is offered by York University's Department of Mathematics & Statistics. The program is dedicated to the exploration and development of new ideas in mathematics and statistics, and to fostering an understanding, appreciation and utility of those ideas. Doctoral applicants are matched with a supervisor in an area of pure mathematics, applied mathematics or statistics, within a program tailored to their individual research direction, building on the department's parallel MA and MSc in Applied & Industrial Mathematics offerings. Full-time doctoral study is twelve terms, equivalent to four years. Admission requires a minimum B+ average, a Supplementary Information Form, a Degree and Program Application Form, a statement of interest, a resume or CV and three letters of recommendation from academic or professional referees. The program admits students for Fall entry only, with both full-time study available to successful applicants.
