The Heritage and Culture certificate at Yukon University combines theory and practice to prepare students for work in heritage and culture management, with a specific focus on Yukon First Nations heritage and culture. The one-year, credit-based certificate covers First Nations history, public administration, archives management, language, anthropology, and the preservation of traditional knowledge, and can be completed full-time or part-time. Courses are offered through a mix of on-campus instruction in Whitehorse and Dawson City, online delivery, and distance-learning technologies. Admission requires English 12 with a grade of at least 65 percent, acceptance into a comparable post-secondary program, or five years of manager-level work experience supported by four to five writing samples. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to remain in good standing. Intake to the certificate has been suspended, and the program is not currently accepting new applications.
