The Northern Studies Diploma is a two-year, flexible program that lets students build a personalized selection of courses to broaden or formalize their knowledge of the North and the Circumpolar world. It draws on multiple disciplines rather than a fixed course sequence, so students can tailor study to personal or professional interests in northern issues. Students complete 60 credits, including ENGL 100 and ENGL 101 plus additional core and elective requirements, and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 while completing at least 50% of coursework at Yukon University. Courses are offered face-to-face and online, with some running as weekly video-conferenced sessions; full-time, part-time, and continuing-education options are available. Students with prior university-level coursework may complete a post-certificate or post-degree version of the diploma in as little as one year. The program admits students in September and January.
