Cyber Security investigates how computer systems can be secured and how people can interact with them securely. Researchers analyse technical and organisational security aspects of systems, develop measures for attack detection and mitigation, and study the human factors that shape secure software development and system operation. The field has a strong connection to classical computer science and an growing interdisciplinary link to the natural sciences, humanities, social sciences and law.
The programme combines a comprehensive training in cyber security methods and tools with selected content from classical computer science. Students can complete some modules from outside the subject to pursue interdisciplinary research approaches. Graduates move into IT security consulting, security analysis of critical infrastructure, incident analysis in a computer emergency response team, and academic work.
