IT Security / Information Technology is a Master's programme at Ruhr-Universität Bochum taught in German and English. It deals with how information is represented, stored, transmitted and processed, and how complex systems stay secure.
The programme asks where systems such as networks, phones and cars are vulnerable, how they remain protected with respect to goals like confidentiality, integrity, authenticity and anonymity, and how cryptography including digital signatures is built and put into practice. It also considers the interface between people and IT security.
Study lasts four semesters, and students can begin in the winter or summer semester. Admission is open (zulassungsfrei) with application through the university's service procedure.
Further details on enrolment are available separately for German and international applicants, and the semester contribution is explained on a dedicated university page. Students can turn to the study advisory service of the department with questions about content and admission.
