MA/MS in Wirtschaftswissenschaften - Quantitative Economics

Quantitative Economics is a research-focused Master's degree run by two units of Bielefeld University, the business and economics faculty and the institute for mathematical economics. It teaches abstract mathematical modelling of economic questions and the transfer of results to practical settings. Students follow either the regular track or an international track. The content is identical, yet the international track typically involves study periods at partner universities, since a partner-university member acts as one of the two thesis examiners. Early courses include probability theory, statistics and optimisation. During the second year students choose a research field, attend advanced lectures and seminars, and plan the project that leads to the thesis in semester four.
