The master's programme in computer science is offered by the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Students learn about the effect of computing on society and gain experience of using it in many different fields, as well as about what computers can do to solve tasks and the limits of what can be solved.
Computers and data processing touch nearly every part of modern society, so computer scientists work on a wide variety of tasks. Students choose between three specialisations: general computer science, language technology, and cybersecurity, which also covers computer security.
The final project is worth 30 or 60 units and usually takes one or two terms, with a supervising teacher guiding the plan of study. Elective courses include software maintenance, software quality management, artificial intelligence, time series analysis, performance analysis of computer systems, quantum cryptography and an introduction to data security.
