MA/MS in Computer Science

Computer Science is a two-year master's programme of 120 ECTS credits in the Department of Computer Science. Only two courses are mandatory, so students can shape their studies around their own interests, and they may follow an emphasis line in artificial intelligence, cyber security or software engineering. Each student is paired with a faculty adviser who helps draw up an individual study plan. Research areas on offer include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, databases for multimedia data, engineering of software systems, language technology and socially expressive computing, each linked to a research group. The cybersecurity emphasis is run with the University of Iceland and requires a thesis based on research in a relevant area. The programme is delivered on site and is intended for full-time study, with daytime attendance required. Students who want a longer study period can take fewer courses each semester. Graduates have a record of publishing their research internationally.
