Program details

Overview

This Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering is the Jersey route into work on infrastructure and buildings. It targets people at the start of a civil engineering career and teaches through practical, design-led study. Jersey's civil engineering sector helped shape the course together with London South Bank University (LSBU), which is both a long-standing partner and the awarding body. It is meant to prepare learners for higher-level study. People who already work for a civil engineering firm may apply independently to build the skills and qualifications they need. Study is part time and runs for at least two years on a day-release basis, with sessions between 9am and 5pm on a day the college will announce. The course runs only if enough applications are received, and fees could change.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: A Level (minimum EEE); BTEC National Diploma (minimum merit and two passes); Level 3 qualifications ideally including Maths, Science and/or DEC; five GCSEs A-C/grade 4+ including Maths and English; or Access to Higher Education qualifications with 45 Passes, or equivalent Level 3 qualifications worth 48 UCAS points. Applications are considered from people with relevant skills through vocational qualifications or industry experience.
