Overview
This master's programme trains complementary and alternative health care (CAHC) specialists to meet standards set by the World Health Organization, alongside the European Union and Lithuania, covering traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, theories of healthy lifestyle and natural medicine, and the theoretical and practical aspects of homeopathy. Further subjects include phyto-therapeutic technologies, interactive bibliotherapy and poetry therapy, music therapy, and physical activity and nutrition, supported by two research papers and a health-research-methodology course.
Learning outcomes include explaining the place of CAHC within national and international health systems, planning and coordinating CAHC research using interdisciplinary and mixed methodologies, and advising patients on disease prevention and health promotion through evidence-based CAHC interventions. Students also learn to assess the causes and nature of impairments using evidence-based assessment tools, and to collaborate within interprofessional teams while upholding principles of equal opportunity, social justice, and disability dignity and human rights.
