This two-year programme develops physical and sea-science specialists able to apply knowledge of marine and coastal natural processes to research, management and protection, deepening competence in oceanology and the structural and functional changes occurring in coastal geosystems. Core subjects include the physics of the seas and oceans, the physics of the Baltic Sea, remote sensing of the marine environment, scientific work methodology, and methods that pair geographic information systems with spatial analysis of marine and coastal regions, supported by apprenticeship aboard marine research vessels and in laboratories and marine research institutions. Teaching runs through lectures, guest lectures, field trips, case analysis, individual and team projects and seminars, building the ability to analyse territorial and spatial phenomena using GIS, mathematical models and statistical methods, plan and carry out applied territory research, and apply numerical models to sea and coastal spatial processes, alongside skills in land management, environmental design and coastal zone management.
