This programme trains specialists able to bring innovative, cross-disciplinary knowledge into sport and physical-activity work for the benefit of society, preparing them for leadership roles in a global context. Students learn how the human body and mind develop and how bodily systems respond during exertion and recovery, in order to plan physical-activity sessions and sports training, conduct complex research integrating multiple subject areas, and prepare recommendations for education and sports policymakers based on findings. The curriculum also builds skills in analysing physical-education and sports pedagogy concepts, creating and implementing programmes and events that address learner diversity, and leading or consulting within national and international teams while responding to a changing environment. Teaching uses case analysis, discussion, mind-mapping, field trips and reading of scientific literature with a problem-based approach, assessed through a ten-point criterion-referenced and cumulative system weighting independent assignments and tests. Graduates can work in research or in physical-activity and sport roles across public and private educational and sports institutions, with access to doctoral study.
