Overview
This programme trains food technologists to analyse food quality, develop new products, and design and improve food-production technologies, addressing organisational and technical problems in the industry. Learning outcomes include applying food science knowledge to analyse raw materials, technological processes, and production systems, assessing how safe, high-quality, nutritionally sound, and sustainable food products are, and understanding process digitisation in food technology design. Coursework spans food chemistry and analysis, sensory analysis, food law, plant and animal food processing, innovative food-production technologies and biotechnology, sustainable food production, food-industry process engineering, and computer-aided design, together with thirty-three credits of practice and a graduation paper. Teaching includes lectures, case studies, group projects, and public presentation of projects, with cumulative assessment through tests and practice reports. Described as the only food-technology programme of its kind in Western Lithuania, it emphasises innovation and sustainability, and graduates can work as technologists or quality staff in food-production and catering companies, or run their own business.
