MA/MS in European and International Business Law

Objective(s) of a study programme: to prepare highly qualified business law specialists, who are able to provide legal advice to the transnational and European business environment, to explain the latest business law issues and trends, to analyse and assess business-related legal situations, promptly and effectively deal with legal problems faced by business, conduct research and provide suggestions for the legislator on the improvement of business environment regulation. Learning outcomes: 1. Ability to plan the learning process independently and purposefully, to choose the direction of professional activities‘ development, to adapt to the changing work environment and to act in a multicultural business environment responsibly, honestly and transparently. 2. Ability to analyse and explain the transnational and European business environment characteristics, the forms of business organization, particularity of their legal regulation and procedures, peculiarities of dispute resolution, specific features of transnational and European regulation of labour relations, business contracts and other particular branches of business law. 3. Ability to analyse, synthesize and evaluate the data necessary for scientific research of business legal environment and innovation in this field, to integrate knowledge of business law, to apply scientific knowledge methodology, to clearly and unambiguously formulate logical conclusions based on business law knowledge, focusing on professional development and improvement and to convey these findings to both specialist and non-specialist audiences in native and foreign language. 4. Ability to advise on issues related to establishment, management, performance and termination of activities of European and international company, to deal with a wide range of legal problems, including extremely complex, when there is incomplete or limited information, to provide suggestions that would enable the reduction of the rise of problems detected as well as interests alignment and satisfaction of the individual business participants. 5. Ability to draft, analyse and assess the European and international business contracts professionally. 6. Ability to provide representation and dispute resolution legal services in multicultural transnational and European business environment professionally both in a team and independently. 7. Ability to act as an independent expert and, using acquired knowledge of business law, to self-initiate, develop, manage and end transnational and European business, to asses and model business creation, development, management and end situations analytically, to generate new ideas in a multicultural business environment, to make social responsible and ethical decisions, to assess alternative solutions and their potential impact on the business environment. 8. Ability to critically analyse, interpret, compare and assess the legislation for transnational and European business legal relations, to provide creative suggestions for the improvement of this legislation in order to ameliorate the business environment. Activities of teaching and learning: Teaching and learning activities are focused on the students. Basically, these activities can be divided into the following groups, i.e. the activities designed to: (1) acquisition of academic students knowledge (includes academic lectures and the student’s own work, and so on), (2) education of students‘skills of communication in social environment (this activity is mainly based on group work), (3) acquisition of students‘ discussion knowledge, (4) development of students’ self-problem-solving skills (learning activities based on problem-solving during workshops and independent work), (5) development of students‘ critical thinking (it is justified with students‘ insights), and (6) reflection – focus on support of teacher and student feedback. Methods of assessment of learning achievements: frontal verbal questioning; individual verbal interviews; colloquiums; case studies (in written or verbal form); mind and concept mapping method; presentation (report); written survey method; synopsis. Specialisations: - Optional courses: Students have the right to study under an individual plan, to complete their studies in a shoter period of time, to choose the modules of other study programmes. The students who have not completed a course in International Private Law as part of the main studies programme are obliged to choose in addition the studies of this subject. The form of the studies and the assessment will be estimated by the Studies Programme Committee. The programme involves a foreign language (French) study, however, students whose native language is French, choose to study English. Distinctive features of a study programme: European and International Business Law Program is a joint study programme, it will be carried out in two high schools – Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania) and the University of Savoy (France). The study programme will be performed in English language. Studying this programme gives individuals the opportunity to gain a Master of Laws degree in two high schools, i.e. to get two high school diplomas.
