MA/MS in Global Engagement and Internationalisation of Higher Education (MPA)

Objective(s) of a study programme: The aim of the study programme is to prepare strategically minded and practice-oriented higher education professionals and leaders capable of designing, implementing and evaluating processes of internationalisation, innovation and institutional development in higher education by integrating studies, research and development (R&D), partnerships and other aspects of organisational advancement, and operating effectively in a global, intercultural and sustainable higher education environment. Learning outcomes: 1.1. Critically analyses global and European higher education policies, governance frameworks and internationalisation trends, understanding internationalisation as an integrated institutional process linking teaching, research and societal engagement. 1.2. Applies public administration and higher education governance instruments to develop institutional strategies integrating internationalisation, innovation, digital transformation and sustainability. 2.1. Applies applied research methods and data analysis tools to evaluate higher education internationalisation policies, processes and institutional performance. 2.2. Conducts applied analysis and develops evidence-based recommendations to support strategic and organisational decision-making in higher education institutions. 3.1. Designs, implements and evaluates comprehensive internationalisation strategies including nternationalisation at home and quality enhancement processes. 3.2. Plans and manages international partnerships, mobility initiatives and collaborative research and innovation projects in higher education institutions. 4.1. Collaborates effectively with international partners, stakeholders and networks and works in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams. 4.2. Communicates strategic decisions and promotes inclusive, responsible and socially engaged international cooperation in higher education. 5.1. Demonstrates ethical leadership, intercultural awareness and professional responsibility in managing internationalisation processes in higher education. 5.2. Critically reflects on professional practice, makes informed strategic decisions in complex organisational contexts and develops international professional networks. Activities of teaching and learning: Academic and interactive lectures, seminar discussions, debates, problem-based learning, project-based learning, research-based learning, case study analysis, collaborative learning, scenario-based learning, simulations, workshops, reflective practice and feedback, peer review, academic writing exercises, independent study, brainstorming Methods of assessment of learning achievements: A cumulative score is applied, which encompasses specific achievements outlined in the course description. Assessment is carried out using various methods, such as case analyses, presentations, reports, and consistent participation in the study process, including lectures and seminars. The final grade consists of the cumulative assessment and other components specified in the course description, as well as the exam grade. Framework: Study subjects (modules), practical training: The study programme consists of subject groups covering global trends and policies in higher education, internationalisation strategies, innovation and change management, funding of higher education and research, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, mobility of students and staff, internationalisation of the curriculum, regional and comparative perspectives in higher education, international partnerships, and the role of higher education in sustainable development. The programme concludes with an applied research thesis. Specialisations: - Optional courses: The student adapts the study content according to his/her needs and the chosen topic of the final project. Distinctive features of a study programme: The programme is distinguished by its clear focus on higher education internationalisation, cooperation with international partners, an international learning environment, a blended learning model, and a strong practical orientation addressing real institutional challenges. Access to professional activity: Graduates of the programme are experienced professionals in higher education and related sectors capable of strategically managing internationalisation, research and development (R&D), partnerships and institutional development processes in a global higher education environment. Typical positions include mid- and senior-level managers and specialists in international relations, studies, strategy, quality assurance or R&D units in higher education institutions; coordinators of international partnerships, mobility schemes and research projects; and experts in higher education policy, quality assurance and international cooperation in the public sector or international organizations.
