Overview
This master's programme trains photography practitioners who can reflect on art theory, think critically, and create photography projects with cultural and social relevance, choosing appropriate visual and narrative methods, styles and technical approaches. Coursework moves through core courses on contemporary photographic practice, critical contexts and instruments, and expanded practice, alongside modules on fieldwork and image-making, creating a publication, and photography and identity, supported by research-work units and electives such as the anthropology of visual culture and contemporary art discourse in Lithuania. Learning outcomes include comparing and evaluating current trends in Lithuanian and international art and photography, judging one's own and others' creative work in a wider socio-cultural context, integrating research methods and data from different fields into a personal photographic project, and generating original art ideas while understanding photography's relationship to other visual-art forms. Graduates are described as prepared to lead photographic projects and find work spanning galleries, festivals, advertising, publishing and related creative fields, or to pursue doctoral study.
