Overview
The programme is designed to lead either into a professional career in neuroscience and biophysics or into further master's study, building understanding of the principles of brain function alongside modern experimental and data-analysis methods. Compulsory subjects span chemistry, mathematics, cell biophysics, bioelectric phenomena, mathematical physiology, plant physiology, genetics and neurobiology, with elective subjects covering areas such as enzymology, gene engineering, bioinformatics, immunology and developmental biology. Two professional practice placements and a final bachelor thesis, each defended, run alongside the coursework, and students also build general competencies in group work, time planning, and weighing the strengths and weaknesses of different experimental techniques. Teaching and laboratory work take place in the university's Life Sciences Center, with scope for a personalised curriculum and a double qualification.
