Overview
This master's programme trains educational researchers prepared for doctoral study, alongside specialists in the culture of education or in education policy and administration able to work across different types and levels of educational institutions and research centres. Compulsory educology courses sit alongside branch-specific courses and a substantial scientific-research and internship component, covering sociological theories of education, the methodology of educological research, and the philosophy and management of education policy. Students learn to analyse and evaluate processes within the education system, form and implement education policy at state and organisational levels, apply the principles of education administration in practical work, and carry out independent research projects. The university describes both branches as new to Lithuania: one branch brings together research on education and culture, while the other is the country's first to pair policy analysis with administration. Graduates can take up leading, administrative, research or educator roles in educational, cultural or youth-focused organisations, with access to doctoral studies in educology.
