This two-year joint degree programme, delivered across four partner universities through blended learning, prepares students for research-related careers in European integration by exploring the historical, social, political and cultural processes of European societies and Europe's role as a global actor. Compulsory modules give a systematic introduction to European studies, drawing on law, history and political science, with particular attention paid to development policy and to Europe's foreign policy, while five further optional modules proposed by the partner institutions cover themes such as European regions and social transformations, taught on-site at the different partner campuses according to each student's chosen mobility path; two of the optional modules can instead be taken as a research placement or an outside professional placement. The dominant form of assessment is the essay, supplemented by oral and written examinations and student portfolios, and the thesis is developed under a joint online colloquium in the final semester, building skills to draw on a range of theories and research methods for analysing European integration, Europeanisation and globalisation, and to communicate findings to varied audiences.
