Overview
This master's programme applies the biopsychosocial model of rehabilitation to restore, maintain, and compensate the functions of elderly people and people with disabilities, aligning practice with United Nations and European Union health-policy provisions. Core study, worth 60 ECTS, covers the biopsychosocial approach to rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, rehabilitation in multiple pathologies, innovative technologies in motion control, and universal design for enabling environments, with specialisation options in physiotherapy or occupational therapy.
Students complete 15 ECTS of applied research methods for assessing rehabilitation efficiency, a 20-ECTS internship built around an individually developed professional-innovation project, and a 30-ECTS master's thesis matched to their chosen specialisation. Learning outcomes include systematically evaluating a person's biopsychosocial dysfunction to identify individual rehabilitation needs, adapting and developing rehabilitation methods and assessing their impact on quality of life, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, public authorities, and patients to address the social inclusion of elderly or disabled people.
