This Erasmus Mundus master's trains specialists in dance, movement and related intangible cultural heritage, drawing on movement anthropology and ethnochoreological methods across four semesters hosted at partner universities in Lithuania, Greece, France and the UK. Students build familiarity with UNESCO's 2003 convention on safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and its methods of transmission, learn to conduct ethnographic and netnographic field research, analyse movement using motion-capture technology and Laban kinetography, and document, preserve and promote dance and related practices such as rituals, martial arts, games and physical theatre. Assessment runs through a portfolio of ethnographic material, an essay based on fieldwork, and a laboratory-based motion-capture project, alongside a dissertation developed in stages across the programme, with graduates moving into cultural and sports-sector work in government, private and non-governmental organisations or continuing to doctoral study in the humanities, social sciences or arts.
