Program details

Overview

This intensive two-semester programme is aimed at people who already hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as pedagogy, social sciences, psychology or a subject taught in primary school, and who want to qualify as teachers in Luxembourg's fundamental schools. It adds the pedagogical and didactic competences needed for cycles two to four in a multilingual and multicultural classroom. Modules cover learning and development, teaching and schooling, classroom research, and subject didactics in languages, mathematics, science, physical education, aesthetics and values education. Internships take place in both semesters, giving students the chance to design and deliver their own teaching sequences, and each student carries out a project in one of several fields such as language learning, mathematics or arts and aesthetics. Teaching uses German, French, Luxembourgish and English. Places are limited and allocated through a written entrance examination held each July, after which successful candidates are ranked.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Luxembourg secondary school diploma or recognised equivalent, plus a 180-ECTS Bachelor (University of Luxembourg or listed in the national register of training titles) in pedagogy, social sciences, psychology, or a subject taught at the école fondamentale. Teaching languages Luxembourgish, French, German and English. Documents: online motivation questionnaire, copy of the Bachelor degree and transcript. Must pass a seven-part written entry exam (concours) – mathematics, sciences, French, German, Luxembourgish and English tests, non-cognitive background test – with a favourable ranking.
