Overview

BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Finance, listed as SC320c, is a full-time degree responding to demand from the growing financial services sector in Mauritius for graduates able to interpret financial data, serve in risk management teams and understand models of financial markets. It trains students in the maths that underlies quantitative finance, and graduates can work in investment advisory firms and risk departments or continue to advanced study in the area. The course covers topics such as arbitrage-free methods for pricing and the use of time series and econometric methods to study asset volatility. The degree requires 200 credits, made up of 150 core credits, a 14-credit dissertation and a minimum of 36 elective credits, taken over 3 years with up to 5 allowed. Applicants need at least grade C in Mathematics at A Level.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the university's general entry requirements for undergraduate degrees, plus at least grade C in Mathematics at GCE A Level. Applicants with equivalent examinations, or capacity judged adequate by the Faculty or Centre Board, or a full practising professional qualification, may be treated as meeting the requirements. Mature students are admitted under separate criteria.
