BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance

This honours degree builds accountants and finance professionals who can operate at a senior organisational level, combining technical accounting competence with the soft skills employers expect. Coursework introduces managerial and foundational accounting techniques before progressing into more advanced territory: financial reporting standards, audit practice, and the legal context in which Mauritian businesses operate. By the final year, emphasis shifts toward strategic control and analytical judgement, preparing graduates for roles as financial accountants, management accountants, or consultants. An industry work placement is built into the structure, giving students exposure to real accounting environments before graduation. Delivered across six semesters, the programme is organised so each stage deepens the last, moving students from basic bookkeeping literacy through to the kind of decision-support thinking senior finance roles demand.
