The one-year programme in outdoor life (friluftsliv) prepares students to plan and lead outdoor activities in varied environments and seasons, with practical skills and knowledge of Norwegian outdoor traditions. It includes excursions and overnight trips in forest, high mountain and coastal areas, climbing at the SiS sports centre, and surfing on the Jæren coast. The programme includes eight weeks of work practice, after which students choose a specialisation in water and sea activities, near-outdoor life, tourism and guiding, or management and public health. Teaching is in Norwegian and English, with a one-week exchange trip to a partner in Valencia, Spain. The course also covers leadership, safety, first aid and sustainable outdoor practices.
