UDST's Diploma in Automation and Control Engineering Technology is a two-year programme that introduces students to the equipment and systems used by automation and control teams in industry. Coursework covers the fundamentals of how such systems operate, with particular attention to microprocessor-based field instruments and programmable controllers that are common across modern plants.
Alongside the technical content, students build the hands-on skills needed to install, troubleshoot, service and repair this kind of equipment, learning in laboratory and workshop settings rather than through lectures alone. The intent is for graduates to join an engineering team as a capable junior member able to work alongside more senior engineers and technologists from day one.
The diploma can lead directly into employment, or serve as the entry point to UDST's three-year Advanced Diploma in the same field for students who want to progress further.
