The Bachelor's programme in Musicology covers music from many periods, styles and cultures, from early music to symphonies, popular songs, opera, performance and folk traditions. Students learn to describe musical phenomena and place them in cultural, historical, political and social contexts. The major and minor both aim for a broad overview, and courses combine lectures and seminars with exercises in harmony, score reading and scholarly analysis.
Career fields after the degree include music journalism, music publishing, concert and opera dramaturgy, music management for concert, festival and music theatre organisations, and music research and teaching. The programme runs six semesters and can begin in autumn or spring semester.
