AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

The Accounting program at Bakersfield College teaches students how businesses record, organize and interpret their financial information. Study areas include taxation, auditing and planning for businesses alongside core financial accounting, supported by real examples and case studies. The Associate of Arts degree gives graduates the tools to begin or advance a career in accounting and finance, with an emphasis on explaining financial information and tracking business performance. Flexible class options and supportive instructors are highlighted as strengths of the department. Students who want a faster entry to the workforce can pursue a Bookkeeping Certificate of Achievement, and a noncredit QuickBooks certificate covers small business bookkeeping software. The program is part of the Business pathway, with courses offered under Business Administration. Students are encouraged to meet a counselor to plan which credential best fits their goals.
