AA/AS in Biology, General

The biology program teaches how living things function through lectures and laboratory work. Subject matter ranges from cell biology and heredity to ecosystems, plant and animal life, and human physiology. Students practise interpreting data, reasoning carefully and tackling problems, which prepares them for further study or careers in medicine, environmental science and research. Because it is a transfer degree, it points toward upper-division study in the CSU campus system, and students are encouraged to build an education plan with a counselor or transfer specialist. The subject belongs to the college's STEM pathway, where advisors help students map out courses that fit their academic and career plans. Links on the program page lead to application steps, class schedules and financial aid. Students unsure where to begin can request guidance from the college's counseling or career and technical education advisors.
