Program details

Overview

This program teaches how food is produced, tested and kept safe. Students study food processing, safety practices and the science behind how ingredients behave, drawing on chemistry and biology. An associate degree supports both immediate employment and move on to a university for further study in this discipline or a neighboring one. A certificate of achievement offers hands-on preparation for entry into food safety and quality control work. Graduates may work as quality control technicians, food safety staff or production supervisors in food plants, laboratories and safety teams. The program is housed in the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Culinary Arts pathway, and its courses carry the FDST prefix. Interested students can book time with an advisor to map out their courses, review financial aid choices, check the class schedule and begin the application steps. Details of each degree or certificate, including its catalog description and requirements, are available from the program page.
