PhD in Nutrition Sciences

This doctorate belongs to the umbrella Program in Biomedical Sciences. Students take shared biomedical coursework, specific nutrition and metabolism classes and conduct research. The shared first-year foundation covers biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology. Nutrition scientists draw on physiology, genetics, epidemiology and social science to understand how diet shapes metabolism and well-being. Students can design coursework and research to fit their own interests. The program's website, linked from the Bulletin page, gives further information about the research opportunities and faculty involved. Doctoral students work closely with faculty advisors throughout, moving from structured coursework toward independent scholarship and a final dissertation. Prospective applicants should consult the program page and the relevant school admissions pages for current requirements, deadlines and tuition, since those details are not given on the program page.
