BA/BS in Computer Science

Computer Science is a Bachelor of Arts or Science major in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. Specialization is possible in areas ranging from web development and net-centric computing to intelligent systems, software engineering, databases and computer architecture. Majors are encouraged to select an area of focus tied to their career goals, then choose electives with advisor guidance to support it. Four formal concentrations exist: data science, artificial intelligence, computer game technology, plus software, web and computer security. Core requirements call for 45 semester hours in computer science, including programming, data structures, advanced programming concepts, algorithms, computability and formal languages, computer architecture, operating systems and net-centric computing. The breadth of offerings lets students shape the degree around the kind of computing work they hope to do after graduation.
