AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

Cabrillo College's Accounting and Finance program prepares students for beginning roles in private companies, government agencies and financial firms. The skills also help small businesses and new entrepreneurs. Instruction combines classroom teaching by experienced faculty with hands-on practice with paper-based and computer-based accounting systems. Students can take single classes to strengthen their current work, complete short-term certificates to reach employment sooner, or pursue an associate degree that can transfer to a four-year school. Graduates may record business transactions, build financial statements, prepare budgets and tax returns, audit records, advise businesses or work for government and nonprofit agencies. The college notes that open positions currently outnumber graduates and expects employment opportunities to keep growing.
