AA/AS in Chemistry

Chemistry at Cabrillo College belongs to the STEM area and treats chemistry as the central science linking mathematics, physics, earth science and biology. The department notes that a chemistry major is considered strong preparation for medical school. The field is experimental, so students should expect to spend much of their time in the laboratory. Pure scientists pursue a deeper understanding of increasingly complex substances, while applied chemists contribute to the development of many everyday products. The department page offers degree and certificate information, a sample course sequence, class information, the current schedule and contact details for the department chair. It serves students planning to transfer in chemistry or in the related life and physical sciences. Prospective students can speak with the department or a counselor to plan their coursework and confirm how credits transfer.
