AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

The accounting associate of applied science covers the profession from the basics of practice through more advanced principles. It prepares graduates for positions ranging from entry-level clerk work to supervising payables, receivables or payroll, and up to roles needing the skills of a full-charge accountant. Students analyze and interpret financial data, build business solutions with advanced software and organizational methods, and use business applications and simulations. The second year emphasizes research on financial and managerial accounting topics, professional contracts and report writing. Graduates may find work in profit and non-profit organizations. Ladder options include a transfer pathway AS, an Accountant diploma and two certificates. Classes meet in daytime, evening and online sections, with fall, spring or summer starts, full- or part-time.
