This program prepares students to assess the technology infrastructure needs of an enterprise. Graduates can recommend suitable hardware and software, then build, configure, deploy and manage those systems, and coach others in using them.
The curriculum emphasises practical skills: setting up, maintaining and repairing computer hardware and software, and running Linux as well as Microsoft desktop and server systems. Students also apply project planning and design techniques and develop habits of independent learning and critical thinking.
An applied science degree, a diploma and several short certificates are available, including Linux system administration. Classes combine daytime, evening and blended online formats, with fall, spring and summer starts. A transfer agreement with Western Governors University is available through academic advising.
Century is a public two-year community and technical college funded by the State of Minnesota, and eligible programs qualify for federal financial aid, with scholarships available through the college foundation.
