PhD in Mathematics

The PhD in Mathematics at CGU's Institute of Mathematical Sciences trains scientists in the fundamentals of the field and in specialized areas of personal interest. Students learn to identify significant research problems, develop solutions and communicate their results to colleagues and the public. Research is collaborative and supervised by faculty whose work spans applied mathematics, computation, statistics, finance and industrial modeling, so students see both theory and practice. Graduates are prepared to lead in universities, companies, public agencies and the technology sector. The degree is taught in person, and students can begin in the spring, summer or fall. Typical completion is somewhere between three and five years of full-time study. The program is designated as STEM, which allows international students holding F-1 visas to apply for extended optional practical training after graduation.
