BA/BS in Linguistic, Comparative, and Related Language Studies and Services

Fordham's Comparative Literature Program treats literature and media as worldwide phenomena, with a core mission of exploring other languages and cultures. Courses introduce major creative and intellectual works from many regions and eras. Majors begin with a required theory course in literary or intercultural thought, then upper-division courses in a language other than English to strengthen linguistic and analytical skills. Each student also completes a capstone essay or creative work developed with a faculty adviser. The major is highly individualized, which allows students to build a personalized course of study. A minor is also offered, and the program positions graduates for careers in a global society. Visitors can read about both the major and the minor, which makes it possible to pair literature study with languages, media and cultural interests.
